Thank you all again. Looks like a varied and compelling selection of games. I expect the kids will greatly enjoy that (not to mention the teachers)! I know I can fondly remember the days of playing Maelstrom and (six-legged space cows, anyone?) on the classroom computers when I thought I could get away with it. The day I addicted my teacher to Bubble Trouble was a good one, too, although she pretty handily beat my high scores.
My first experience using a Mac was similar to what you describe. My elementary school received a few Apple II's and Mac SE's from Apple as some kind of education consortium thing. I'll always remember being drawn to the SE when I heard some classmates playing Crystal Quest (the sound effects were pretty mind-blowing back then). When it was my turn to play, I couldn't get enough. Needless to say, I was hooked and when we began using the Mac to complete our drafting projects, I was convinced that this was indeed the future of computing particularly since prior to this we were using lifeless DOS and Wordperfect to get our work done.
But yes, perhaps some of these kids will be drawn to the Mac in much the same way via shareware games. One can hope.
The macroeconomic forecast of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) is based on the scenario according to which Ukraine will receive a new financing program from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from 2020. 'The main downside risk to the NBU's forecast scenario is lack of progress in the implementation of the structural reforms needed to maintain macrofinancial stability and continue cooperation with the IMF, amid large external debt repayments scheduled for the coming years.
Postponing measures necessary to restore cooperation with the official lenders narrows Ukraine's ability to secure the financing needed for public debt repayments, which peak in 2018–2020. Therefore, the NBU deems taking immediate action to continue cooperation with the IMF as critical for maintaining macrofinancial stability,' the NBU said in the April inflation. As UNIAN reported earlier, the National Bank of Ukraine forecasts that the next tranche from the IMF may arrive at the beginning of the third quarter this year. In March 2015, the IMF approved a four-year Extended Fund Facility (EFF) loan program for Ukraine under which US$17.5 billion will be disbursed. Under the program, Ukraine has already received four disbursements from the Fund to the tune of US$8.7 billion. The program is expiring in March 2019.
