Basically, since the reformat of my laptop (Emachines m5309) i havent been able to use my cd/dvd rom. It shows it in my computer, and i can hear the drive spooling up. No result though, and when i double click on the icon in my computer it says there is nothing in the drive. No problems in device manager. Strangely enough, it will sometimes load the windows xp cd, but thats it.

Also, i know the drive isnt dead, becuase it will boot cd's outside windows. Any and all help will be apreciated. Boot into safe mode and remove the cdrom from device manager (if there is more than one, remove them all). Chipset drivers are not so easy.
