Of course I had my Mac closed, so I opened it and tried to reset the parameters. Nothing worked. I read online about holding the shift key down while restarting. I tried that. It restarted itself and set the parameters to 'Mirror Displays.'
Now, that is the only way I am able to use the Gateway display. It's pretty annoying to always have my laptop open now just to use the big display.
